The Year of Jubilee by Return to God.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
"Consecrate the fiftieth year and proclaim liberty throughout the land to
all its inhabitants. It shall be a jubilee for you..."-- Leviticus 25:10

The year of Jubilee, which God declared in Leviticus 25:10 is the final
year of a fifty year cycle. This fifty year cycle is made up of seven
seven-year portions (Leviticus 25:1-10). The seventh year in each of
these smaller cycles is a Sabbath for the land in which the land is to
be at rest, not being planted or harvested. The year of Jubilee or Yovel
follows the seventh Sabbath for the land. Yovel in Hebrew translates as
"ram's-horn". Jubilee has this name because of the special blowing of
the ram's horn trumpet or shofar that begins the year of Jubilee on the
fiftieth Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur). In the year of Jubilee debts are
canceled, servants are freed and property returns to its original owner.

Ancient Jewish eschatology teaches that the Messiah would come in the
120th Jubilee from creation. This would be in the year 6000. According
to today's Jewish calendar, we are currently (September 6, 1994 -
September 24, 1995) in the year 5755 from creation. There is some
dispute among Jewish scholars as to the accuracy of the Jewish calendar.
Some scholars believe that more than 200 years were not counted. This
would mean we're much closer to the year 6000, and if ancient Jewish
eschatology is correct, the coming of the Messiah.
